Book Review: The Only One Left
I came across this book when it was listed as one of the top thrillers of 2023 by New York Times Books, and needless to say, it does not disappoint. It has all the essential elements of a great murder mystery: protagonist with a questionable past, a creepy house, horrific murders of a wealthy family, and the one candidate who may or may not be responsible for it. The pacing is wonderful and the story flowed naturally for the 3/4 of the book. The big plot twist towards the end were a good surprise and was essentially what I was looking for when reading a thriller such as this one. But I do feel like the author overdid the whole revelation after revelations, once the main plot twist was revealed. I also noticed several key plot holes which made no sense to me. However, overall it was an enjoyable read and I was hooked to the story from page 1.
